How many devices will use your VPN account?
A VPN account’s device allowance usually refers to simultaneous connections. That is different from the number of devices on which you can install an app. Check the selected provider’s current terms because allowances can vary by plan.
Count devices that connect at the same time
Start with your phone and laptop, then add tablets, other household devices and TVs that will use the VPN concurrently. Three installed apps do not always mean three simultaneous connections; what matters is which devices are connected together.
Ten devices or unlimited?
Many of our partner plans advertise ten simultaneous connections. Surfshark and Avlix advertise unlimited devices, subject to the provider’s terms. Mysterium lists different allowances by tier: six for Basic, ten for Plus and fifteen for Pro. A lower-tier price should not be used to describe the higher tier’s capacity.
Check apps and features too
A device allowance does not guarantee support for every operating system. Confirm that the provider offers an app or supported configuration for your phone, computer, TV or router. Features such as split tunneling and kill switches can differ between platforms.
What about a VPN router?
A router setup may cover several devices through one router connection, depending on the provider and configuration. It can also affect performance and app-specific features. Do not assume router support or connection-count treatment without checking the provider’s instructions.
Choosing your shortlist
GetVPNoffer filters out plans with a published device capacity below the number you select. For eleven to fifteen simultaneous devices, we consider higher-capacity tiers and unlimited-device partners. If an alternative billing term is shown, it is labelled explicitly.
